Postdoctoral Appointees - Job Opportunities

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, invites applications for a full-time, Academic Year, tenure-track position in Physical Polymer Chemistry, beginning September 12, 2011.

Primary teaching assignments will be courses in the Polymers and Coatings Program and in other courses in applicable areas, specifically Physical Chemistry and, possibly, General Chemistry.

Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience.

Appointment is anticipated at the Assistant Professor level, but appointment at an advanced level may be possible, for a highly experienced candidate.

A Ph.D. in Physical or Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science or closely related discipline is required, prior to the start date of the appointment.

The successful candidate must be committed to quality Undergraduate Education and will be expected to develop and maintain an active research program involving Undergraduates and Master's Students. Active participation in the M.S. Program in Polymers and Coatings Science is also expected.

Experience in teaching laboratory or lecture courses in Undergraduate Chemistry is desired.

Individuals with specializations in Physical Polymer Chemistry are highly desired.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers B.S. Degrees in both Chemistry and Biochemistry and a focused M.S. Degree in Polymers and Coatings Science. The Department also serves many Technical Programs in the University. Undergraduate Students may choose concentrations in Molecular Biology, Polymers and Coatings or a blended B.S./M.S. Program in Chemistry or Biochemistry and Polymers and Coatings Science. The Department's unique Polymers and Coatings Program has been in existence for twenty years and receives major support from the polymers and coatings industry. The Department is committed to providing each student with a capstone experience through a faculty-facilitated senior project.
