The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at The University of Akron, seeks to fill tenure-track faculty positions (two junior faculty (#6002) and one Associate or Full Professor (#6003), to form the nucleus of a Corrosion and Reliability Engineering Program, the first of its kind in the United States.
The Program has already received significant support from the Department of Defense and industry to address materials reliability issues that impact our environment, our national readiness and our economy. This Program is part of the fourth fastest growing College of Engineering in the country.
For all three positions, a doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a closely related discipline is required. We seek candidates with expertise in Corrosion, Materials Science, Electrochemical Engineering and/or Materials Degradation —- all Materials and Environmental Degradation modes are of interest.
One of the three positions, the Carboline Chair of Corrosion Engineering, is to be filled at the Associate or Full Professor rank, by a candidate with the experience and record to establish a leading research program in Corrosion and Reliability Engineering, including but not limited, to coatings and/or materials selection.
Duties for each position include teaching a diverse group of students, at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels, supervision of M.S. and Ph.D. Students and establishment/management of a vigorous, externally funded, scholarly research program. Participation in faculty governance and professional service, including outreach to the community and instructional support, are also required for these full-time positions.
