National School on Neutron & X-ray Scattering

Place & Time

The school will take place between August 10 - August  24th, 2013. The school will start at Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL  and continue at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN after roughly one week. Students will be housed and transportation will be provided from lodging to the school. Lodging accommodations will be available starting August 10th  through August 24th, 2013.  Lectures and hands-on experiments will be held during normal working hours, but some experiments will be conducted during evening sessions.  Social events will be arranged for participants.

Enrollment

The target audience is graduate students attending North American universities majoring in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields.

To the accepted graduate students, the School will provide air transportation from their home institution or their current address. The Argonne Communications, Education and Public Affairs Division will arrange for air travel so that students arrive at Argonne on Saturday, August 10, 2013 and depart from Oak Ridge on Saturday August 24, 2013. Students who travel to Argonne via private automobile will be reimbursed in accordance with Argonne policy. Travel reimbursement will be made only for individuals who reside outside a 50-mile radius of Oak Ridge. The School will also provide housing and meals at Argonne and Oak Ridge for all School participants, as well as transportation between Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory.
