SFANS/ANS/2006

STUDENT EXCHANGE PROPOSAL

TITLE:          Neutronic Analysis of the SEFOR Doppler Experiments

SUBJECT:     The work will consist in re-visiting Doppler experiments that were performed in the South-West Experimental Fast Oxide Reactor (SEFOR).  This will be done with modern nuclear data and neutronics code, with the objective of obtaining a better calculation-versus-experiment agreement than with older, less sophisticated methods.  Perturbation-theory will be used to quantify the contributions from the various nuclides and reactions to the reactivity measurements.

TOOLS:        ERANOS neutronics code system

                       Unix workstations

PERIOD:     Three months minimum, four to six months preferred

STUDENT LEVEL:  Degree in Nuclear Engineering

BS acceptable, but MS or higher preferred

Good knowledge and interest in Reactor Physics

French Level:  Some knowledge useful but not required
