Are you a problem solver? Are you compelled to understand how things work? Come join Argonne National Laboratory in exploring the world of Engineering and the endless possibilities a career in this exciting field offers. Argonne’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day gives young female students a unique opportunity to discover Engineering careers alongside world class scientists and engineers. Participants will be able to enjoy motivational presentations by fellow female engineers, tour Argonne’s cutting edge research facilities, connect with a mentor, engage in hands on engineering experiments, and compete in a team challenge. Come unlock the doors to your future with Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day.

Application Requirements

We encourage all eligible participants to apply to Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. All applicants must be in eighth grade and need to complete the online application. The application process begins on December 1st and will close on December 31, 2013. Space for the event is limited and participants will be selected by a lottery system. Due to the popularity of the event, there is a limit of two girls per school. The students selected for the event will be notified by email of their acceptance.

Logistics

Students are responsible for their own transportation to Argonne National Laboratory, and should arrive no later than 8:15 am. For directions to Argonne, please visit here. The day will end at 4:00pm, at which time all students can be picked up. Parents and guardians are invited to attend the closing ceremony at 3:45 pm. All students attending the conference must wear long pants and close toed shoes due to Argonne’s safety regulations. A lunch and mid-day snack will be provided for all participants. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate everyone’s dietary needs. If students have special food needs (allergies, gluten free, etc.) please bring a snack and lunch from home.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Emily Cantu at 630-252-3380 or emancini@anl.gov. We look forward to inspiring young females at Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day!
