Abstract

Nature uses carbohydrates to mediate a wide array of biological processes such as inflammation, cell – cell interactions, host – bacteria interactions and viral entry. Unimolecular glyco-protein interactions are often in the millimolar range, however, the binding affinities can be improved by multivalent binding to multiple carbohydrate ligands tethered to a scaffold. We have synthesized pathogen specific ligands and conjugated these ligands to various scaffolds. We will present our synthetic strategy and the ability of these novel compounds to capture pathogens of interest.
