ANL Research Highlights

Rob became an Argonne National Laboratory user in 1999 while a graduate student and did several experiments for his thesis before joining as a postdoc in 2004. He worked for Chris Benmore of IPNS on the GLAD instrument. They also sustained a program on the amorphous materials diffractometer at BESSRC-CAT, experimental station 11-IDC. Rob worked on fundamental and applied questions about structures and state functions in non-crystalline materials. They made significant discoveries about laser host glasses, high-temperature materials and the quantum mechanical aspects of liquid water structure. This work was featured in prestigous journals including Journal of the American Ceramics Society , Journal of Chemical Physics and Physical Review Letters.

New Endeavors

Rob is currently working as the Research Analysis Manager at The Shepherd Chemical Company in Cincinnati , Ohio . He remains interested in non-crystalline and partially materials, especially metal carboxylate liquids and ion exchange materials such as zirconium phosphate.
