ANL Research Highlights

As a post-doc in the Physics Division I was involved in nuclear structure research at the ATLAS facility. My main responsibilities were to participate in the operation and maintenance of the GAMMASPHERE spectrometer, and to develop and validate new methods for studying exotic nuclei using the Argonne Fragment Mass Analyzer. My work led to the discovery of shape-coexisting structures in very neutron-deficient platinum, gold and mercury nuclei, and of high-seniority K-isomers in several hafnium isotopes. I was also involved in a number of experiments devoted to studying properties of heavy and super-heavy nuclei, K-isomers, and nuclei far from the line of stability.

As a post-doc in the Technology Development Division I was involved in the activities of Argonne Nuclear Data program. I have completed nuclear data evaluations on properties of nuclei within the A=177 mass chain.

In my current position in the Nuclear Engineering Division I am working on various nuclear data and applied nuclear physics projects. The main emphasis is on compilation and evaluation of nuclear structure and nuclear reaction data, and on development of nuclear data measurement, analysis and evaluation methodologies for use in basic science and technology applications. I am also collaborating with scientists from Argonne and other U.S. national laboratories and universities, and leading nuclear physics institutes overseas, on experimental nuclear physics projects. My research interest is on nuclear structure and astrophysics data, and their intersection with applied nuclear physics.
