The Laboratory hosts an annual opportunity for all postdocs to meet informally with the Laboratory Director. Whether over coffee and cake or pizza and drinks, these events provide postdocs with an introduction to the Laboratory Director and an opportunity to ask questions important to them.

Announcements of the date and location of these events are made available on the Postdoctoral Office Activities website and sent via the postdoc listserve, postdocs@anl.gov .

The Postdoctoral Office organizes Career Development Seminars, held once a month with postdocs, supervisors, postdoctoral committee members, and Argonne management. These social events allow postdocs to meet and interact with Argonne staff in an informal setting. Announcements of the date and location of these social gatherings are made available on the Postdoctoral Office Activities website and sent via the postdoc list serve, postdocs@anl.gov .

Postdocs are encouraged to work with the Postdoctoral Office or their division points of contact to schedule formal presentations of their scientific work. Presentations of this type offer an experience that the postdoc presenter will find extremely valuable. For some divisions, these presentations are a routine practice; for others the postdoc will need to take the initiative with division management.
